Robyn Mulhaney's ArtFlow Project a Success

The ArtFlow Project is the brainchild of Robyn Mulhaney, co-owner of The Flying Pig . It consists of 19 panels, each measuring 2'X2', with a mosaic river kind of thing meandering through all the panels. Panel1 When finished, they will all be hung together in a row, making approximately 40 feet of art, with the mosaic connecting the artwork of different artists, to form 1 body of work. The only criteria being to not extend the artwork beyond the edges of the framework, to keep the grout in the mosaic portion white, and to make sure it can stand up to weather, as it'll be placed in a garden and shown there for a month.

Here it is, a photo taken by Robyn to be use for PR purposes, that shows all 19 panels-now picture them all lined up on a 40' easel! They are displayed in the gardens of The Flying Pig until mid-October. Be sure to visit and enjoy the work of this diverse group of artists. Artflowimage_2

"Robyn imagined a project that would bring together those involved in the arts at many different levels: those who appreciate, those who instruct, professional artists and children.

The ArtFlow Project was designed to exhibit the drift of creative energy that flows through small communities and to represent the impact of its talented tide."

William Faller Sculpture Unveiled in Kewaunee

A life-size figure monument by artist William Faller was unveiled Saturday, Sept. 8th at the Kewaunee Fire Station. The monument commemorates firefighters' loyalty to duty and the sacrifices they make providing emergency services.

The figure is that of a firefighter braced against a fire hydrant, operating a fire hose — depicted from a photo of a Milwaukee firefighter spraying water on a winter's day, in which the firefighter seems to be frozen at his post.

Faller began the project more than two years ago after learning that the Kewaunee firefighter monument was incomplete. He began with plywood and Styrofoam, covering this with clay to produce the sculpture. The sculpture was cast in bronze at Jeff Adams foundry, Mount Morris, Ill.

Last night's BOD discussion

Just a couple of things - first a reminder for next Monday's Borscht Night Meeting - 7 p.m. on September 10th at The Flying Pig. Bring your Artist Trading Cards if you have them completed - and if not, bring them anyway to work on or even share your progress with the group, ask questions, look for inspiration, etc. I've heard that a couple people have their cards ready to go and that many have procrastinated (including myself), so we'll accommodate both groups.

Each monthly meeting is also terrific way to share current art projects that you're working on - get feedback and support - just plain network - bring your work with you to the meeting. Come with ideas for discussion, things on your mind, questions, happenings to add to the arts calendar, etc.

See you Monday night at 7 p.m.
